Our community garden, Esty Street Garden, is located on Gayogo̱hó꞉nǫʼ land (located at 415 Esty St, Ithaca, NY)
in Ithaca, New York. This garden was started in Summer 2017 with assistance from Cornell Cooperative Extension of Tompkins County, Greenstar Community Projects, volunteers from Ithaca Children's Garden, and Loaves and Fishes.
Today the garden is under the care of Food Justice Projects with support from Community Federal Credit Union (CFCU) and serves as a demonstration and learning garden where individuals can learn to grow their own food. Harvests from the garden are freely shared directly from the garden as well as donated to the food pantries of No Más Lágrimas and Southside Community Center that serve the Latino and Black community in Ithaca, New York.
We currently have three accessible raised planters in front of the United Way of Tompkins County in Ithaca, New York where hot peppers and culinary herbs are very popular. We seek to grow this model of garden veggies freely available at a network of sites across Ithaca.
